Outplacement for your people

Outplacement is a service designed to support those people who are leaving your organisation, for whatever reason, to help them transition to their next opportunity, whatever that may be.

Outplacement Programmes

We do not believe there is a ‘one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to Outplacement. Every situation is different and with (nearly) 30 years’ experience we have the expertise to provide the right level of tailored Outplacement support to people across your organisation. Our team of career experts can support you and your people on a local, national and international basis.

Individual Outplacement
We offer 1:1 Individual Outplacement and Career Transition Programmes for individuals at all levels and our highly personalised service combined with practical career advice and coaching support helps people to move on quickly and confidently. Our coaches will partner with each client to support them in their campaign and help them to make the right choices.

Executive Outplacement
New Horizons Executive Programmes offer a tailor-made approach to career transition, designed to meet the unique requirements of senior managers, directors and executives. Programmes offer a high level of coaching and guidance with a director level coach, and we know that senior people benefit from the ability to discuss complex job search issues and the ‘know-how’ of top level recruitment.

Group Outplacement
We have been providing Outplacement support to groups of people, both large and small, for more than 25 years. More recently, these have become a mix of consultant-led programmes (incorporating both traditional training techniques and 1:1 coaching) and technology-led solutions – especially where people are working remotely or across multiple sites, and sometimes in different working patterns or time zones.

Benefits of Outplacement

  • Protecting brand and reputation: There is no statutory requirement to provide outplacement but it sends a positive message about how you treat people.
  • Showing you care: Giving your leavers support so that they have the best possible chance of finding the right job in a realistic timeframe.
  • Retaining and attracting quality talent: Your colleagues recognise you as an employer of choice.
  • Protecting your HR team: We will support your HR team, helping to make their frontline role a little easier.

What you can expect from us

Our programmes are created around each person’s situation and their specific needs. Consultations with their coach can be face-to-face, by telephone or via video call.

Individual Programmes typically offer practical support on:

  • Writing CVs that work for both online and traditional applications
  • Creating a LinkedIn profile
  • Personal branding advice
  • Job search strategy and techniques
  • Preparing for upcoming interviews and interview skills coaching

The foundation of our approach is the personal support of a career coach. Our coaches help people to come to terms with the experience of redundancy, discuss next steps and identify longer term options.

Sometimes ‘bite-size’ support to write a CV or create a LinkedIn profile, or perhaps to prepare for an interview, may be all that is needed.

In addition, our online career centre, i-horizons, is available with access to job search tools, psychometric assessments and exercises designed to help someone identify their strengths, and make the right career choice for them.

Coaching support can continue beyond a job offer. Our coaches will help to assess the job offer package, work with each individual to develop a plan for the first 90 days and continue to provide guidance and support when it is needed to ensure a successful transition into their new role.

Executive Outplacement provides senior individuals with the opportunity to gain clarity around their next career move, whether that is advancement, a change of direction, self-employment or a portfolio of non-executive director, trustee and consultancy roles.

We provide advice and support at every step of the way, determining career and personal goals, identifying unique strengths and future career options, preparing for the job market and supporting each individual through their campaign, for as long as it takes.

Your senior executive will be matched with one of our most experienced director level coaches who understands the complex requirements of senior leaders and the ‘know how’ of top-level recruitment.

Programmes run generally for 6 or 12 months and our guarantee is that we will work with each executive to create a bespoke programme designed specifically around their needs and ensuring the right level of support and coaching to help them transition to the next stage of their career.

We have been providing outplacement support to groups of people, both large and small, for more than 25 years.

Our traditional outplacement programmes are still widely used by organisations looking for support following large-scale site closures or restructurings. Made up of half-day and one-day group workshops that cover the key issues of job search and career transition, they are supported by a range of add-on follow-up services, such as 1:1 sessions with our career coaches.

Our digital-led programmes – comprising a range of webinars and virtual 1:1 support delivered via video conferencing and complemented by online resources – have become the ideal choice for organisations looking for a more varied and adaptable approach, especially where people are working remotely or across multiple sites and sometimes in different working patterns and time zones.

High quality outplacement services will become increasingly crucial for those people facing redundancy in an uncertain job market as organisations embark on business transformation in a post Covid-19 world.
