Services for Individuals

Self Employment / Business Start-Up

Many individuals take advantage of redundancy to start their own business, become self employed or to set up as a Consultant rather than return to full-time permanent employment. Our special module is designed to address the relevant topics that you need to understand before taking a major step in your professional career.

A typical Self Employment / Business Start-Up module would contain some or all of the following:

  • Am I suited to working for myself? - an in-depth analysis of what makes you tick and whether running your own business is the right option for you. This could include taking the Values and Needs exercise to identify the key drivers in your decision making process.
  • What am I offering? - a look at whether the product or service you are offering is robust and marketable.
  • Marketing my business - what are the benefits? What competition is out there? Identifying your pricing structure. The marketing strategy - putting together a marketing plan/budget and materials including stationery, advertising, marketing materials, website etc.
  • How should my business be structured? Sole trader, Limited Company, Partnership etc - looking at the options and selecting the most appropriate.
  • Interim management, consultancy and contract employment - the advantages and pitfalls of the various ways in which you can work for yourself.
  • The financials - book-keeping and accountancy, tax, National Insurance, VAT, bank accounts, liability insurance and putting together a business plan; employing people, premises, Health & Safety. Everything you need to keep control of your business and minimise the risks.
